Phil’s Ice House is named for Phil Clay, a longtime Amy’s Ice Creams employee and partner. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2003. So people would not forget Phil, Amy and Steve decided to name their burger place after Phil. Phil’s Ice House is located in what once was Otis Hill’s Enco gas station. In 2004 Amy and Steve bought the property to move the Amy’s factory. (It is behind Phil’s in the former Allandale Post Office) they fell in love with the neighborhood and decided to create a neighborhood gathering place.
